Whilst our focus is always on creating great quality wines for our customers, we also want to have a positive impact on our planet. We are therefore very proud to announce that we have achieved ‘PAS 2060 standard’, meaning we are certified Carbon Neutral!
This is pretty big news for us as we are the first online wine retailer to receive this status, so it’s fair to say we are absolutely chuffed.
So what does this actually mean? Well, the PAS 2060 is an internationally recognised standard and one of the few officially verified routes to achieving this status. What sets PAS 2060 apart from other routes is the fact it requires companies to reduce their emissions each year moving forward, rather than just offsetting. Therefore, we have set a target to reduce our emissions by 25% next year and will be audited again each year to verify we have in fact met this target.
As a business, we have been working hard on a number of initiatives this year to help us achieve this status, including:
Whilst being a carbon neutral business is a fantastic achievement, we understand that this is only the first step in our journey to reduce our carbon emissions.
We have therefore recently submitted our application to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and have set science-based targets to reduce our carbon emissions further. This target will be aligned to the 1.5ºC scenario as promoted by the Paris Agreement. Our target is to cut our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030.
Our long-term goal beyond this is to also achieve net zero status by 2045, which we are hugely committed to achieving.
