Best English vineyards to visit this summer
As English wine becomes increasingly popular, it has become more readily available. You can now find your favourite vineyard bottles in our English wine portfolio, or you can pick them up from the vineyard itself. There are now more than 1,000 vineyards in the UK, with over 200 wineries, so it’s a great option for a delightful day out, enjoying an educational English vineyard tour whilst sipping wine directly where it’s from. Read on to find out our top English vineyard and winery visits in the UK.
Balfour Winery
Balfour Winery produce a delicious range of traditional method English sparkling wines and innovative still wines. What we really love about this winery though is how it has become a benchmark for English wine tourism. Recently awarded ‘Best Contribution to Drinks Tourism’ at The Drinks Business Awards 2026, Balfour hosts over 74,000 visitors in a single year.
With its modern feel, strong focus on customer experience, and easy 45-minute train ride from London (plus free shuttle buses to the vineyard!), it’s no wonder Balfour Winery has become a favourite escape from city life.
Guests can enjoy a bottle of their Nannette’s Rose, which our Buying Director Sophie Lord has described as “a Provence-style rosé with added softness and complexity”, whilst taking in the vineyard views. Or, they can attend one of Balfour’s vineyard tours, enjoy yoga in the vines or an evening of sipping and painting.
Henners Vineyard
Why not visit the fabulous winemaking team behind our award-winning Henners Foxearle English Sparkling Brut. Henners Vineyard, located in Herstmonceux in East Sussex, is a stunning spot to savour a glass of English sparkling wine.
Taking full advantage of their prime location overlooking the South Downs – winemaker Collette O’Leary and her team have recently opened a sensational, light-filled tasting room at the highest point of their estate. Guests can soak up a glass of British bubbly as they admire the luscious vineyard slopes and Pevensey Levels Nature Reserve below.
Henners Vineyard offers a jam-packed schedule of great events, including food pop-ups in the sunshine, wine masterclasses and pilates in the vineyard. There really is something for everyone.
London Cru
The UK’s first urban winery, the team at London Cru is known for thinking outside of the box. Tucked away in an alleyway in SW6, based in an old Victorian warehouse that was once a gin distillery, the London Cru winery is simply iconic.
There are three wines from this team that have grabbed the attention of our buying team: their aromatic Chardonnay, their rich and well-balanced Blanc de Blancs and their vibrant and juicy Pinot Noir Précoce.
At their central London location, you can experience a wonderful winery tour, become a winemaker for the day or take part in their yoga and wine summer series.
Flint Vineyard
The pioneers of English Charmat, Flint Vineyard is home to a talented and innovative winemaking team who are striving to think differently. Located in one of the driest and sunniest spots in the UK, rural South Norfolk provides the perfect weather conditions to grow expressive, vibrant fruits that go straight into their modern winery.
