Vinazza Garganega Pinot Grigio 2012

Vinazza Garganega Pinot Grigio 2012

  • Pinot Grigio with a twist, there's some rich Garganega in the blend to make it a little more sumptuous.
  • It's made by our prized Piemonte winemaker, Claudio Manera, with the same love as his sky-high, top-drawer Gavis and Barolos.
  • A great value, every-day drinking wine, with the Garganega grape sure to spark interesting dinner conversation.

This is a Pinot Grigio that reaches the peaks that most Pinot Grigios cannot. It is from the rolling hills of Italy, in the northern cooler region, and shines not only because there's some great Pinot Grigio fruit, but also because it's got a good dollop of freshly brewed Garganega, added for extra weight and sensuality. This wine is lightly aromatic with ripe citrus and baked apple characters, and a soft, honeyed sweetness from the aforementioned bedfellow. And what a great couple they make.

We wanted to get a wine that showed the best expression of the two key white grapes of NE Italy - the carefully chosen Garganega grapes grown in the Vicenza region have been blended with 20% Pinot Grigio from southern Friuli, regarded as one of the best areas for whites from Italy, were gently pressed and underwent a cool fermentation and then spent some time on their fine lees to add some weight and texture.

Lightly aromatic with ripe citrus and baked apple characters. A crisp and easy to drink dry white with soft, lightly honeyed fruit and a fresh finish. This is a highly versatile wine that is ideal for a wide variety of dishes and yet still perfect on its own!
