Haut de Senaux Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Haut de Senaux Sauvignon Blanc 2012

  • This is a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc made by Patrick Lesec's mate Cyril Payon.
  • Impeccably made, by a winemaker at the top of his game, especially for us.
  • A wine from the Pays d'Oc - a rather large area but we've found the gold.

The flavour profile of this lovely wine is exactly what we look for in good vintages from the South - aromatic enough to shriek "Sauvignon Blanc!" and ripe enough to be super-versatile. During hot years, this simply doesn't happen. This wine has a dashing nose of tomato leaf and gooseberry, plus a slightly mineral palate that bursts with freshness. Good fun all round. We have the Rhone Valley courtier, Patrick Lesec and his mate Cyril Payon to thank for this beautiful Sauvignon.

Andrew Baker talks about Haut de Senaux Sauvignon Blanc.

"This beautiful French white, is something we can all revel in."

Winemaker: Cyril Payon

Country: France

We make a special effort each year to visit Patrick Lesec, a courtier of note in the Rhône Valley. Our visits to his beautiful cellar in Uzés always yield brilliant bottles of wine. Why? Because he is very well connected indeed, and has first dibs on all of the good stuff coming out of the South of France. It is not unusual to have blends that we have crafted together removed from the table, as we craft them, swiftly sold to other keen buyers.

This particular Sauvignon is made by Patrick's winemaking mate, Cyril Payon. One of the many beneficial connections he allows us to be privy to! And the result, this beautiful French white, is something we can all revel in.
