The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Rhône - Châteauneuf-du-Pape

This is something unique and a true one-off, which is pretty insane, coming from a region as historic and illustrious as Châteauneuf-du-Pape! It is crafted from 100% cinsault from 100-year-old vines and is the only pure Cinsault produced in the whole of the region. A dark concentrated style of Cinsault, however it still possesses plenty of classic jammy fruit and wonderful easy-going nature. A wine that fully wows the senses and should be decanted so that is shows at its best.

The Winemaker

Guillaume Gonnet
Winemaker:

Guillaume Gonnet

Guillaume Gonnet is a 3rd generation winemaker who took ownership if the family estate in Châteauneuf back in 2006. Prior to this he gained invaluable experience working at some of the world's finest wineries, covering renowned regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy and Napa to name a few! He now runs the estate with his wife Kelly and produces a range if terroir driven wines that capture the unique climate this prestigious part of France's Rhône Valley.

"For a number of years, I wanted to bottle this parcel of vines on its own rather than lose it within the wider Châteauneuf blend, without barely a mention. It is a powerful version of this variety with lots of dark ripe fruit character and some serious intensity." - Guillaume Gonnet, Winemaker.
