Vineyard-specific bottlings are a relatively recent thing in this part of the world. The coverall term of 'Barbaresco' is a brand in its own right and carries real weight in the world of fine wine. However, certain 'crus' now get the recognition they deserve and Albino Rocca's approach champions that. The Cotta vineyard shows lovely dense, ripe fruit but with a lightness underneath that gives real lift and elegance to the prettiest of aromatics.

The winemaking at Albino Rocca is a family affair since the passing of third-generation Angelo in 2012. But Angelo's father's (Albino) legacy lives strong in the family, where terroir expression and working in a way that protects the local environment are the essence of this grower.
