Region:Burgundy - Gevery-Chambertin
This wine is really starting to open up now and shake off some of the tightness and restraint it showed a couple of years ago. Spending some time in bottle has allowed the fruit to swell a tad and pair up with the mouth-watering freshness it showed in its youth. Crafted from a tiny 0.35ha holding (Lieu Dit Aux Etelois) which sits between the Grand Cru sites of Charmes-Chambertin and Griotte-Chambertin. Very fine neighbours indeed! Brothers Nicholas and David Rossignol run the Domaine and have now converted all their holdings to biodynamic viticulture practices.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Nicholas & David Rossignol
Brothers Nicholas and David Rossignol have run the Domaine since 1990 and have since converted their entire holdings to biodynamic viticulture, with a focus on sustainability and natural practices in the vines. Their wines are on the lighter side of this region's typical denser style, but perhaps all the better for it. Their signature is one of restraint, often with whole bunch pressing, little or no pumping over and a very light touch once fermentations have finished.
"We take great pride in the approach we take in the vines and winery and being biodynamic producers sees us get even closer to our cuvees year after year. This was never the fruitiest expression from this tiny plot, but the red fruit concentration was still plenty to hold up the wine and allowed it to age majestically." - Nicholas & David Rossignol, Winemakers.
