The Wine

Country of origin:

Germany

Region:

Mosel

The Schlossberg vineyard is named after the ruins of a castle that lies within the Zeltingen vineyards. The vines grow on its slate covered, steep southwest slopes arranged on small terraces meaning that all the grapes have to be carefully hand-picked. This means that winemaker Peter Griebler benefits from beautifully healthy, sun-ripened grapes and chooses only very best ones for this bottle of Riesling. This results in an astounding wine which highlights the terroir and minerality of this site.

The Winemaker

Peter Griebeler
Winemaker:

Peter Griebeler

Peter has a rich history in wine, having worked across the globe and excelled in very senior positions at some very big operations. But it's the love for quality-focussed, boutique production that has brought him to Heinrichshof where he can really express himself through his wines.

"The natural ripeness of the grapes, achieved through good exposure and vineyard management, means that while this wine is dry it has a lovely mid-palate weight that prevents it from being rasping. The zing and vitality is all there but there is enough fruit to carry it." - Peter Griebler, Winemaker.
