Paul Hobbs is a very famous man in California (and beyond). His story is quite simple, but quite unique. He grew up on an apple farm and became very familiar with identifying which orchard the best fruit was coming from. The notion of terroir was born in the mind of Paul and his winemaking approach is no different. The vineyard site and its meticulous management is everything. The purity of the fruit that he achieves gives his wines great balance and expression. Not to mention a sea of accolades, too.

Paul Hobbs
Paul Hobbs grew up on a working farm in upstate New York. His father would test him by taste on which apples came from which orchard. This enlightened Paul to the diversity of flavours and textures available from different sites, which would later influence his approach to winemaking. Paul has honed this skill that he acquired as a child and is now famous for having the ability to identify exceptional vineyards. He founded Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991 and he now shares his time with Vina Cobos in Argentina.
