We think that Laurent Espinasse, relative newcomer to the Rhône, is a star in the making. From the moment we tasted his barrels, it was clear that the man had the right juju to make wine sing. The thinking behind this wine was to make a 'Barrique Cuvée' with Laurent - a blend of his best individual barrels that would represent the high point of the vintage. The combination of great vintage and what is commonly described as a 'tête de cuvée' gives a wonderfully fleshy example of a wine in equilibrium.

Since we were exposed to the delights of the 2009 Zinio, we begged for a smaller, more succulent part of the El Secreto vineyard to be vinified. We bring you the 'Seleccionada'. A delightful concoction making the very best of the 2010 vintage, itself a lovely occurrence. This wine is 100% Garnacha, which is a great thing as the 2010 vintage eclipsed even the wonderful 2009 for this grape. So you get a pure, unadulterated hit of fleshy, seductive and entirely lovely raspberry fruit. Bravo María!

It's a source of immense excitement that this wine is probably the best Perez Cruz creation that we have ever tasted. It's the very best that Maipo can produce, the region itself being one of the best in Chile for Bordeaux varietals (which this contains aplenty). A wonderful accompaniment to red meat dishes - enjoy it with your Sunday roasts. Get in there before everyone finds out about this gem.
