Cava's where the smart money's at. If you seek the panache, fizz and frivolity of Champagne, but at a fraction of the cost, sneak a couple of bottles into your basket. It comes from Torre Oria, whose 100 years' winemaking history in Valencia means that they know more than a thing or two when it comes to Methode Traditionelle! A base wine of zesty Viura is given bready, creamy complexity - just as in Champagne - with a second fermentation in bottle. Top class.
Type: Cabernet blend
Price: £19.99 each
It's a source of immense excitement that this wine is probably the best Perez Cruz creation that we have ever tasted. It's the very best that Maipo can produce, the region itself being one of the best in Chile for Bordeaux varietals (which this contains aplenty). A wonderful accompaniment to red meat dishes - enjoy it with your Sunday roasts. Get in there before everyone finds out about this gem.

Type: Grenache blend
Price: £12.99 each
This stunning release was crafted by super-talented winemaker, Carlos Bermejo Lopez, from an outstanding single vineyard of old Tempranillo and Garnacha vines. It's a wine that pays homage to the traditional style of Rioja but one with a spring in its step. This smooth raspberry and cranberry-kissed wine is a beauty with lithe fruit notes and no ugly lingering tannins or woodwork. If you like unruffled, languid reds with silky notes and haunting mulberry and fresh herb flavours then this is your wine.

Type: Pinot Noir
Price: £9.99 each
Grown in vineyards in much more moderate temperatures than the scorching areas of Cape Town, this Pinot Noir benefits from longer ripening, more flavour, more depth and ultimately more class. Nico's handiwork has resulted in a delicious wine which presents an array of red berry flavours with hints of vanilla. This refined unconventional light red tipple is just perfect now that game is back in season or perhaps with a vegetarian friendly mushroom risotto. Either way it is sure to delight your tastebuds.
Type: Syrah / Shiraz

Aussie tendency to abbreviate is seen here to great effect. The "Big Mo" describes a pivotal point in the winemaking process where the momentum of vintage, fruit quality and raging ferments takes control of the outcome; the natural culmination of a year's work for the winemaker. This winemaker had a feeling that everything was aligned in his favour, so everything was going to turn out well even if he acted to stop it! The "Big Mo". There's something so reassuring and positive about this special cuvee.

There is no stopping the quality from the great vineyards of Marlborough. Made by a master to the highest possible spec from a cracking vineyard, from your favourite white wine growing area on earth. We did a 'Remington' on it and bought the lot, as you might expect, having seen its quality and provenance. Lovely citrus drive and purpose with deft floral touches and hints of minerals.
Type: Chardonnay
Price: £10.99 each
A wine inspired by the shipwrecks of Cape Agulhas, and the cool, crisp style of wine that this region is capable of producing. We've watched this wine change and grow over the past few months; every tasting has been a surprise, and each surprise is more pleasant and revealing than the last! There is virtually no buttery character; rather, heady flavours of citrus fruit, marmalade and toffee'd pear come to the fore with crisp, Bramley apple acidity and touches of lemon and coconut.
Type: Grillo
Price: £9.99 each
Grillo is a rare beast: a single grape that produces a perfectly balanced wine all by itself. The more you pay the more those delicious flavours intensify. The historic Rallo winery has stood on the beach in Marsala for over a century. While they still produce famous sweet wine, more recently their reputation has been forged by the quality of dry whites. Made from vines that are at least 30 years old, this fragrant, rich, unoaked wine is a vision of Sicily's future as a fine wine producer.

The best way to make a great bottle of Sauvignon Blanc is to get healthy, ripe stock from great vines. Now Nico, the winemaker, knows this and so trots about all season looking at the kind of vineyard minutiae that would pass us by. Looking for signs that one block will be better than another and so on. This is how he puts together lovely grassy, citric wines like this. Expect plenty of vibrant fruit, with a touch of pea-pod and minerals on the palate and a lengthy finish that smacks of quality.
