Type: Cabernet blend
Price: £8.49 each
Graham Knox has taken a fine Cabernet Sauvignon from his own Klein Doolhof Estate (a hidden corner of the beautiful Wellington district, and a treasure trove of low-yielding, dramatically situated vines) and combined it with parcels of Merlot from his friend Nico. In spirit, the combination pays more than just a nod to the grand wines of Bordeaux, being laden (as it is) with ripe, plummy fruit, spicy cedary notes and vanillin overtones.
Type: Cabernet blend
Price: £7.99 each
This is a soft, fruity, easy drinking Spanish red packed with ripe red currant and crushed raspberry fruits. Casa Azul is a blend that brings together the lead grapes from two much more famous wine regions, Tempranillo from Rioja and Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux. Don't get us wrong Casa Azul is not a pretender to their throne but what it does represent is outstanding value for money. Enjoy a glass on its own or try with a cheese board and a selection of cured meats. Perfect!
Type: Cinsault blends
Price: £8.99 each
In some ways Wellington, just like the Cinsault variety, is under-rated or forgotten. A shame as it's one of the mainstays of the entire Cape Wine industry. This wine, from the intrepid team of Frank Meaker and Graham Knox, brings together hand-selected parcels of old vine fruit from the finest sites in the Bovlei Valley which, with its dramatic aspects and deep soils, is both charming and vibrant, sharing lifted cherry and berry fruit and a lingering spiciness.

This wine comes from Alvarez y Diez, one of the top producers in the classic white wine DO of Rueda. With a history dating back to the 1940's, Alvarez y Diez is also one of the most progressive wineries in the region with modern technology but at the same time a respect for the past. Their principles are to protect the environment, limiting the amount of human intervention, to produce a pure wine that reflects its terroir.

Type: Viognier blend
Price: £7.99 each
On a recent trip to Sicily, we encountered Bruno Fina, a vinous adventurer with a reputation for his leftfield, 'out there' creations. A real mash-up of old and new: Viognier is as classic as it gets, and Fiano has been around for about two thousand years; whilst, by contrast, Bruno's winery is packed to the gunnels with the most up-to-date, whizz-bang winemaking equipment on the planet. The combination of the two is magical, especially when - as we did - the grapes were picked early, for added freshness.
Type: Grenache blend

Another wild and wicked creation from the sun-splashed South of France. Eric Monnin, a man on a mission to modernise classic French styles and bring them to us at a fraction of the cost, weaves his magic once again - in this case, an homage to the multi-varietal, much-praised white wines of the Rhône. And stylistically he's bang on, delivering the characteristic richness of white Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, whilst keeping it vitally fresh. A rare feat.
