Juan Gil Albacea Spanish Red Wine
  • Rich, lush, multi-layered coffee and chocolate dusted berry flavours sound like a nice cocktail to you? For us this old-vine classic tasted like an established icon wine. But it's from new kids on the block who just happen to have drop-dead brilliant vines at their disposal.
  • These 50 year old bush vines, don't push out many grapes but those that they do are super-rich and packed with flavour.
  • Discover the power of old vines and new technology. And what a result.

We Say...

You can always tell when a region is really promising by how much the land costs. Jumilla, in eastern Spain, has enjoyed rocketing prices recently. This is because it's now common knowledge that the region can produce stonking great wines. This is a sensational example.

Very nice wine. Definetely full bodied, with great taste, and perfect for an evening meal. Will buy it again.

A rounded, full bodied wine with subtle flavours and a good finish. Very enjoyable, highly recommended
Richard
Almost made 5 stars. A very nice balanced wine. Good structure, warm vanilla nose. Big cherry fruit flavour with a spicy note. Long warm finish with a hint of a leathery taste
Jo
took a previous reviewers advice of decanting for an hour and its a very nice drinkable red, i am finding myself comparing to other wines Ive had from virgin, which may not be a fair system but hey its mine! which is why its a 3, if there was a 3.5 that's the one i would want to award, we have left half a bottle for tomorrow, so if it breaths well for a longer period the score may well go up!
FRANCES
Really lovely soft red
GREGOR

Mark
This was the last one of a mixed case I took in April, opened after the New Year, it was well worth lying down for a few months. Full bodied, lots of flavours.
