Grown in Bio-Bio, Chile's southernmost wine region, this Reserve Merlot knocks spots off Claret that's twice the price.
Merlot loves this part of Chile and with wines as good as this, its not hard to see why so many people are saying it could be a world-beater.
Perfect to drink right now.
We Say...
Agustinos is the pet project of a stupendously wealthy Chilean gazillionaire, who set out to make super premium wines, using his capital, international winemaking expertise and the best equipment and grapes money can buy. By getting in on the ground floor, we have bought it at a price that is just, well, silly for the quality. Buy now before prices go up!
was really excited to try this as the vineyards sauv blanc is exceptional and for me Chile does the best merlots but i found this wine average and nothing special. A big let down this time. Much better merlots out there
A well balanced wine with nice tannin, good acidity, fruity and chocolate hint. It is definitely value for money, on HK$79 in supermarket!

Not a fan - very oaky (I normally like oakey wine) - maybe it could benefit from lying down for a while as the tannins seemed to overpower everything but the oak!

Not good, lots of sediment and gave me a bad head

Very smooth Merlot. Lovely, I'll definitely buy more. £8.49 in May

The Wine Maker Says...
Name:Constanza Schwaderer Vineyard:Bio Bio Country:Chile
For me, winemaking is an art, a science and an important way of life that is reflected in Agustinos wines. These wines are built on hard work, starting on the vineyard, where careful management is carried out all year to harvest concentrated low yield grapes. The best blocks of the vineyards are specially selected to make three different styles of wine: Estates Vineyard, Reserves and the Special Blends. Enjoy these wines that invite you to appreciate nature, good food and fellowship (Constanza Schwaderer).
Ruby-red of medium intensity, it has soft notes of red fruits such as raspberry interlaced with vanilla, chocolate and soft notes of very well integrated oak. Medium-bodied with soft tannins, the palate is backed by nice acidity that helps extend its long finish.
