Is this case right for you?

If you're looking for a case of wines, guaranteed to be impress, then this is the case for you. Our wine buyer, Andrew, just won't shut up about these wines, mainly because they offer fantastic quality at affordable prices but also because he's so proud he uncovered them. So...here you go, Andrew. We've gone and put all these wines in a case and discounted it by over £32. That should keep him quiet.

How we put it together

Andrew, our wine buyer, tastes thousands of wines each year. OK, it's a dirty job, but someone has to do it! For all the toads he's kissed he's uncovered a host of princesses. This selection is his choice of wines which offer outstanding quality for the price. By avoiding the high price regions and ignoring the big producers, with the big marketing budgets, we have found wines which are exciting and individual. This is a case which gives all the taste of luxury, but at an affordable price.

A new vintage of an old favourite. Made in an easy drinking Kiwi style but with the advantage of coming from Chile, so it's much better value for money. Super-refreshing with an ultra-tangy zing, this is the style of Sauvignon everyone knows and loves. From Mulchen, way down in the (cooler) south. With a long growing season it is ideal Sauvignon territory. The new Marlborough? It certainly shares a lot of things. It even looks the same. But it is a little cheaper. Actually, a lot cheaper.

Pinotage is South Africa's own grape variety. And it almost never was. In 1925 only 4 seeds existed and they were nearly destroyed. But luck won out and they were saved. Now Pinotage is recognised as South Africa's signature variety. This velvety, intense blend with Shiraz really is the best of both worlds. With the plummy, berry flavours of Pinotage complemented by the spicy intensity of a top-drawer Shiraz this is a unique experience - and you'll love it.

Whilst cruising to uncover new, vital regions in Chile, we couldn't ignore the classics either. Casablanca feels like a great white wine region: the air pure; the sun intense; the evenings cool. And the purity of the result is worth a million over-ripe Aussie Chardonnays.

The worlds first SuperPuglian gem. A complex, lip-smackingly full, rip-roaringly delicious red from the quaint region of Puglia. A quirky and vibrant region boasting spectacular gastronomy. Perfect for introducing brooding violet, bramble, briar, mulberry and bitter cocoa notes in this fruit-packed, super-smooth red.

Lovely aromatic wine with shades of apricot and peach. Las Moras is already recognised as a producer of some of Argentina's best fine wines and the finest viognier. This is great value for money because of my amazing powers of persuasion, and the fact we got there first.

A wine containing more varieties than the average 'Cape Blend' yet with a smaller price tag. 'Seven' is a homage to the classic 'field blend' tradition of the Cape - multiple grape varieties planted in one vineyard, but here, the parcels were all individually-made, so the end product could be tightly controlled. "Settle back, relax and wait for every single one of these varieties to waltz across your palate and embrace your olfactory system - this is a delicious red wine." Matthew Jukes.

Chardonnay 14.0% 2008 7.49
If you think Aussie when you think Chardonnay then the Bellevue Estate Cellar reserve will suit you nicely. Full flavoured with that lovely warm-climate tropical fruit Chardonnay expresses so well. Made from an exquisite parcel of grapes sourced from a single vineyard, it's Aussie Chardonnay how it should be. Fat, flavoursome, but not sickly. Loads of vanilla, butter and spice but not overly cloying, this would go well with buttered chicken or creamy pasta sauce.

The finished wine is deep purple in colour with a stunning bouquet of dark berry fruits and vanilla spice leading onto a big, full-bodied palate with masses of luscious black fruits and a rich lingering finish. A great wine to enjoy a glass of on its own or an ideal partner for roasted red meats ? especially beef!
