We work very closely with small, boutique producers around the world, getting involved in every stage of the process to ensure that everyone involved is treated well and appropriate consideration for the environment is given. Many of our winemakers use organic and biodynamic techniques and we have an ever growing range accredited by the Soil Association as Organic.
If you're after a wine that gives you a nice warm glow inside (other than the obvious effects of indulging) this is the place to start. Here at Virgin Wines we wholeheartedly believe in providing all our winemakers and farmers with a fair return for their wines but are very proud to be able to offer our customers a range of Fairtrade accredited wines which give even more back to the community.
In Rawsonville, South Africa, is a community who produce delicious wine AND are using the income from that wine to make a real difference to their community. The Fairhills Project was set up in 2005, as a joint venture between Du Toitskloof Wine Cellar and the wine exporter, Origin Wine, in the Breedekloof region of South Africa.
I was doubly pleased when I was able to put their 'Usizo' wines on our site. Not only were the wines amazingly good and brilliant value for money, but EVERY CASE raises money to help the Fairhills project grow.
So far, sales of these wines have raised R60,000 for these community projects.
This money has been used to provide day care centres for the local community, jobs have been created to staff those centres with training paid for by the project to ensure high standards of care and education.
A brand new computer centre and library has been built at the Lorraine Primary School in Rawsonville and future plans future include a medical centre, help for the elderly and expanding their educational and training facilities. We will continue to distribute their lovely wines and work with them to help them achieve their goals.

The Township Winery is a collaboration between Virgin Wines, South Africa's leading wine guru Graham Knox, and maverick township developer Kate Jambela, whose pioneering work has put more than 5,000 shack-dwelling families into proper, warm, brick-built homes over the last 5 years. Her vision was to harness the amazing creativity, the sense of hope and forward-looking attitude of the Township people and to pour it into a winemaking project: one producing world-class wines from the fruit of vineyards located within eyeshot of the Townships. It also acts as a centre for training, a restaurant, a marketplace and focus for the whole community.
The first wine, Philippi Sauvignon Blanc 2010, was released last year amidst considerable acclaim. Over the coming months, look out for the 2011 Sauvignon, its limited-edition Pinot Noir sister, and a vibrant, chunky red made from a wild mash-up of funky and classic varieties. The excellence displayed in each of these bottles shows that you don't need a Chateau to make a world-class wine: care, skill and a vision are all you need!

Type: Cabernet Blends
The Cape is a place of great wine and great culture. Wine has played a major part of this culture for centuries, but never have we seen something quite this fabulous. There's structured Cabernet, rich red Petit Verdot, spicy Shiraz, and velvety Merlot with a splash of Zinfandel in one harmonising force.
