Domaine du Cedre was a slightly smaller but much more rosy and shiny apple than the good wine it replaces as our number one Chablis for everyday drinking. It has bright and classic flavours that pack loads of refreshment into the bottle and make devastatingly good bedfellows to any fish dish you have planned.

I have searched and searched for the rosé that I want (selfish I know). That pretty, pale pink, light, tiny-bit-sweet but devastatingly, mouthwateringly, refreshing rosé. And now I've found it. The young Languedoc gun of a winemaker, Jean Marie, may have eyebrows that caterpillars are sexually drawn to, but by 'eck he can make wine. Especially rosé. And I just LOVE it.

For lovers of fine Loire Valley Sauvignons, this wine is a dream come true - even the Chateau where it's made looks like something straight out of a fairytale with it's magical setting, spires and tall towers that could hold a princess or two captive. The wine is certainly enchanting, with a taut minerally taste and dry finish that most Kiwi Sauvignons can only dream of. With a wine as good as this, the winemaker and his family will surely live happily ever after.

Michel Girard is a very lucky man because he has everything a Sancerre producer could want. Four distinct 'terroirs' that, blended right, give true balance and depth. We tasted all of the 2007's from the tank and thought they were good enough on their own. We then looked at the blend and begged him for a few cases. Blow away, rich, delicious Sancerre like the supermarkets could only dream of.

A sensational Champagne from the heart of the world's most prestigious vineyards. With gorgeous, biscuity Champagne, like this, coming out of this Northern France commune, it is no wonder why it's being hailed as the "Capital of Champagne". Perfect to serve at formal dinner parties or enjoyed at any special occasion. This is certainly the choice for celebration. You and your guests will not be disappointed when the tiny bubbles tickle your senses.

I always rush down to the Loire to see the new vintage in the hope that, by tasting while the stuff is cloudy and still virtually fermenting, I'll beat the crowd and get the best wine at the best cost. I am sure I have done it here with the Haut Lieux. It makes all of the pain worthwhile!

The 2005 vintage won a Gold Medal and this one is every bit as good. A great food wine with the smoothness that makes this southern Rhone gem a must have. Limited supply so stock up now.

Thanks to those ever-helpful French wine laws, the makers of this wine can't call it Chablis, because it's technically not from there. But in the words of an ill-fated star-crossed lover "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" and that's what we reckon's true of this little Burgundian number. So if you want something classy and affordable to go with your grilled chicken, here for art thou Juliet.

Finding a wine at this price that has all the character of a very chic, and expensive, Burgundy really made my day. In the sleepy village of Pernand-Vergelesses I discovered this wine made by the Silver Medal winning Vallet Frères winery. When I tasted it I couldn't believe the price. It was ridiculously low for this quality. The reason? No-one has heard of this wine and the quantity produced is tantalisingly small.
