Prior to taking up winemaking, eccentric Californian Michael Borboa forged a career in a little-known competitive sport: high-diving into shallow pools of water. Fortunately, after hanging up his swimming shorts, Michael has channelled his competitive spirit into a safer pursuit - wine. The result is no less breathtaking than seeing a man dive 20ft through the air into a paddling pool!

Lodi was a little known area in San Joaquin County until two things occurred: Creedence Clearwater Revival wrote a song about it, called 'Lodi' and it was crowned the 'Zinfandel Capital of the World'. Now it is home to Woodbridge, a brand of the legendary Robert Mondavi who goes by the affirmation "whatever you do, pour yourself into it". So there's no denying that it's on the vinous map now.
