This is a Pinot Grigio that reaches the peaks that most Pinot Grigios cannot. It is from the rolling hills of Italy, in the northern cooler region, and shines not only because there's some great Pinot Grigio fruit, but also because it's got a good dollop of freshly brewed Garganega, added for extra weight and sensuality. This wine is lightly aromatic with ripe citrus and baked apple characters, and a soft, honeyed sweetness from the aforementioned bedfellow. And what a great couple they make.
We wanted to get a wine that showed the best expression of the two key white grapes of NE Italy - the carefully chosen Garganega grapes grown in the Vicenza region have been blended with 20% Pinot Grigio from southern Friuli, regarded as one of the best areas for whites from Italy, were gently pressed and underwent a cool fermentation and then spent some time on their fine lees to add some weight and texture.
Lightly aromatic with ripe citrus and baked apple characters. A crisp and easy to drink dry white with soft, lightly honeyed fruit and a fresh finish. This is a highly versatile wine that is ideal for a wide variety of dishes and yet still perfect on its own!
Type: Colombard blend
Take a sip filled with invigorating, ripe grapefruit and lime flavours, then sit back and enjoy a couple more. Whether is the sunshine, or beside a roast, this is an all season white. It's also great value with Fairtrade goodness aplenty.
Type: Semillon blend
Semillon, one of the duo of grapes that makes the great sweet wines of Bordeaux, finds a whole new meaning here in Oz. This is a wonderful yet somewhat unorthodox, blend of Semillon and Verdelho made by the brilliant Geoff Hardy.
Type: Pinot Blanc
The white grape cousin of Pinot Noir, this is one relative tired of hiding in the shadows. Twin this French beauty with a light snack or enjoy it on its own. It is both minerally and spicy with the fruity touch of peach and citrus.
