The lovely Catamarca region, in North-Western Argentina, provides the fruit for this stunningly refreshing white. Torrontes is not a well-known variety, not least because Argentina's just about the only place where it grows in any quantity. It's a great discovery though, with its bracing acidity, pungent fruitiness and subtle, perfumed spice make it a taste experience to savour. Blended here with a touch of gooseberry-edged Sauvignon Blanc, this should be a fitting favourite in any self-respecting fridge.
Australian born winemaker Stephan Damien McEwen has worked across the world before falling in love with Argentina, the people and the way of living. The excellent vineyards and grapes varieties gave him the opportunity to make excellent wine.
This Catarmarca Torrontes Sauvignon Blanc has a greenish color, with golden hints. Floral aromas well combined with grapefruit and asparagus. Fresh, crispy and smooth, dry taste and pleasant acidity with a balanced finish. It is ideal as an aperitif. Combines beautifully with smoked or sauced fish, cheeses and vegetables. It also pairs well with gratins and white meats.
