André Brunel is one of the world's great winemakers, having secured a position in the pantheon of gods who have made wine rated a perfect 100 by the great critic Robert Parker. But, his Cuvée Centenaire is a little dear. Fortuitously he also makes Côtes du Rhône with the same meticulous eye and conscience. So you can get a very serious, fruit-filled, bottle of Brunel rouge, for a fraction of the price of his magnum opus. Match this masterpiece with equally big flavoured foods.

Andre made his unimpeachable reputation in Chateauneuf-du-Papes, but is also one of the masters of the Southern Rhone. There, he has some wonderful vineyards that contain the very same pudding stones (galets) that retain heat in Chateauneuf proper, helping to bring in the ripest fruit, giving Chateauneuf quality terroirs under a Côtes du Rhône label.
